Archaeologists say a 4,000-year-old toolkit found in the tomb of a Bronze Age spiritual leader was used to work with gold.

A set of stone tools was found near Stonehenge more than two centuries ago. But its use is still unknown until now.

 

Researchers at the University of Leicester have re-examined the tomb's contents discovered inside the tomb. and found that it was a tool used to make gold

 

Lead author Dr Rachel Crellin said the findings 'Really exciting.'

These tools were first found at the Bronze Age Upton Lovell G2a cemetery, which was excavated in 1801.

 

Currently on display at the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes, Dr. Christina Tsoraki from the University of Leicester. An analysis of the wear and tear of the objects in the tomb was performed.
